Richard Jones is a native Arkansan, being born in Searcy, Arkansas and growing up in Jacksonville.  After graduating from Jacksonville High School, he attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) where he majored in music and physical education.

After receiving his degree, he was  band director at Camden, Central High School and Mills High School both in Little Rock, Arkansas.

After leaving the teaching profession, Richard became an entrepreneur.   He was the owner of the successful Houck Music Company; Richard also helped organize and became a partner in Arkansas School Band Services.  Upon selling his interest in Houck and Arkansas School Band Services, Richard began his career in commercial real estate and land development in the Jacksonville, Arkansas area.

 

Richard is married and has two grown children, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild, and currently lives in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  He began his participation in Jubilation Jazz when it was first being formed and has been an active member of the band for the last five years.  Richard enjoys playing in Jubilation Jazz and regards the band members as accomplished musicians and good friends.  He admires the goals of the organization and feels that he is enriched by being a member of the group.
